Festiniog Coach Kits

The Festiniog Railway was a pioneer of the narrow gauge railways which sprang up around the globe. It’s purpose was to transport slate from the inland quarries to the harbour in Portmadoc where the slate was transported around Britain and the World. Goods services started in 1836 and passenger services were added in 1865. The carriages were small and unlike the larger standard gauge counterparts. The style of some of these coaches which developed over the decades is reflected in the 16mm kits shown here. The Railway re-opened as a preserved line in the 1950’s and is now a major tourist attraction.
